The Coolest Number!

Ok, so I'm biased. I have to say, however, that mine...not YOURS...is the coolest number ever for the race. Better than number 1 - well, not really. But close!

1234

Yes, that's right - the easiest 4 digit number to remember in the entire world - I'll bet even a few of you lazy folks even use it as your PIN on your debit card. You know who you are!

Now that bib numbers are issued...dang this thing is getting close. Did you see the lake temps plummet in the last 2 days? Crimeny! We'll be darn lucky to see 55 degrees come race day. And what's with the cold evening lows? 47 degrees - basically, the water will be warmer, if you can believe it, than the air temperature on race day. Now that's a comforting thought!

So assuming I make the swim time cutoff of 2 hrs and 20 minutes, we'll exit the water to a happy 50 degrees and jump, water-logged and frozen, on to our bikes for some 17 - 30 mph (remember, there are downhills too...) riding through cold air. What you say? Highs for the day could reach 81 or so? Nice...just in time for the run, we'll hit the day's high - which is still 15 degrees cooler than temps at the year-round-outdoor-training-center.

And NO, I'm not complaining about 81 degrees - luv that! The question is...how quickly, once the sun does down, does it cool off around there? I'm guessing it's pretty quick - and since I'm 99.9% sure that if all goes well and I make the bike cutoff - I'll be running in the dark, and the cold. TriSherpDi - bring a jacket!

1234

Too bad I don't have a 12:34 Ironman in me....

Actually, 69 would be a better number.

I once got 666 at St. Croix! Be prepared to get sick of comments about your race number as the day wears on.

Ah, yes, the Cindy Jo we all know and luv. I had 666 once at Miami Man - yes, I shared your grief!

For IM...I'll need all the help, and comments, I can get!

Definitely a quality race number. I am sure they set it aside just for you, because of your podcasting fame!

Great number...
and yes, I know SOMEONE who uses that sequence to retrieve their voicemail on their cell phone...but I am not mentioning names here! :-)

Put long sleeves in your bag at the bike to run bag-or if you start running in the warmer part of the day, put a shirt in your special needs bag at 13.2.

But you knew all that anyway...!

To warm up after the swim, have you thought of putting a bottle of super hot water in your transition bag, by the time you're done the swim, pour it on your hands and feet...it won't be terribly hot by then and it will be enough to warm those frozen toes and fingers.
Also, your race # is cool, maybe that's also your finishing time 12:34..best of luck to you!!

You DO have the coolest #. I don't remember it being cold last year near the finish- seems like it finally warmed up from the wind dying down.

As someone whose street address is 123, I think 123+4 is pretty cool, too!

Awesome number!

Brr....that's gonna be cold! TTT water temp was around 57 and I froze my arse off. Take the time to dry off before you get on the bike, and wear some toe warmers!

Dude, didn't you know they save the remedial numbers for the "special" triathletes? Good luck ot you anyway.

Oh, the night time temps, yes they do drop fast in places with little humidity but on the bright side the sun will be up for a very long time on the 22nd.

What an AWESOME number!

Just think how many times per week you hear or think of the sequence 1,2,,3,4. For the rest of your life, everytime you hear that you will think of the day you became an IRONMAN!!!!!!!!!

I'll be watching for you, just don't make me wait 17 hours ;)

Damn! now I have to change my super secret Pin number. Well at least your first or last name isn't GOD then I have to change my blogger passward too....Doh!

Seriously, Big'un, Don't joke about a protective layer between you and the water. Think full cap and booties. Seriously.
